The Chicago Bears have now signed all eight if their 2025 draft picks, as second-round No. 39 overall wide receiver Luther Burden III agrees to a fully-guaranteed, $10.95 million contract, marking the first time in NFL history the 39th pick gets a fully-guaranteed deal, per Adam Schefter.
The timing of the deal comes at a good one as the Chicago Bears start training camp tomorrow July 19 and Burden is now expected to show up and suit up.
Burden missed time during OTAs and minicamp with a soft tissue injury suffered at rookie minicamp, and was on the verge of missing valuable time at the start of training camp.
Last seasons No. 39 overall pick Braden Fiske from the Los Angeles Rams signed a four-year $9.4 million deal with only $7.6 million in guaranteed money.
The Bears rookie wide receiver totaled over 2,263 yards with 21 touchdowns in three season at the University of Missouri, and only missed one game.
Burden will now get to see the field and build the rapport with quarterback Caleb Williams and with the new look offense for Chicago under head coach Ben Johnson.
After being drafted and falling to the second-round, Burden shared how he felt on his draft position.
“Nah, that’s staying with me forever. Everyone who passed up on me gotta pay,” Burden said.
