With the NFL’s fifth-year option deadline for 2022 first-round picks nearing May 1, teams have a decision to make on former top picks.

Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports announced this morning that the Philadelphia Eagles have exercised the fifth-year option on defensive tackle Jordan Davis.

The former No. 13 overall pick from Georgia has shown an increase in production in each of his first three seasons in the NFL. Davis was a vital piece up front for the Eagles in their Super Bowl run this past season.

Davis also showed his ability to stay healthy, starting in every game for Philadelphia in the past two seasons. His leap from his rookie season to his second year in 2023 saw him make 45 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and two tackles for loss.

In 2024, Davis recorded 27 tackles, one sack, two pass deflections, and a fumble recovery. The exercised option will give Davis $12.9 million for the upcoming 2025 season, and with the expectation for him to take the next step in his game, it could play a big role in a contract extension in 2026.
