The Detroit Lions and All-Pro Safety Kerby Joseph reached an agreement on an extension that will keep the 24-year-old in Detroit until 2028, first reported by Ian Rapoport.

Joseph’s agent, Louis Bing from Exclusive Athletes Agency, helped negotiate a 4-year deal with $86 million — $21 million in guaranteed money.

Drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft, Joseph comes off his best season yet as a safety, leading the league in interceptions with nine.

He is coming off a season in which he also finished with 83 tackles, a career high, and 12 pass deflections, a career high. Joseph has played in 49 NFL games and has started in 46 of those, and he didn’t miss a game in the 2024 season.

The Lions’ next step is to try to lock up another homegrown talent in defensive end Aidan Hutchinson. Detroit Lions President Rod Woods recently told David Birkett at a pre-draft event, “He will be here for the long haul, I can assure you that.”
